RIYADH, March 4 (KUNA) -- A Kuwait-funded school for special needs students has opened in Yemen's Lahij province, the first such facility in the southern district.
The school, which also caters to autistic as well as visually impaired students, was inaugurated by a delegation from the Kuwaiti Relief Society, the charity said in a press release.
On a related note, the Kuwaiti contingent examined the progress of a water pipeline project amid severe water shortage in the war-torn nation, the statement pointed out.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti delegation dropped by a number of schools funded by the Gulf country, all of which have been newly refurbished, it added.
The Kuwaiti philanthropists also embarked on a field visit to Yemen's Dhale province, where they conducted a needs assessment survey for residents of the governorate.
Copious amounts of Kuwaiti aid have poured into the Arabian Peninsula country in the last few years, bringing much needed assistance to Yemenis impoverished by war. (end) mdm.nam
