KUWAIT, March 1 (KUNA) -- A host of government agencies have been tasked with implementing urgent measures to face the environment situation in the Sabah Al-Ahmad City, said Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Service Affairs Jinan Boushehri Thursday.
The Ministry of Health will be contacted to take urgent steps to face the insect aggregations that spread in the city, for protecting Kuwaitis' health, the minister said in a press statement after a meeting at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW).
The Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources (PAAF) has been ordered to close water wells south of the City in a week's time, and to rapidly revive the tree-belt surrounding the city.
It will also transfer recycled and rain water to the tree-belt areas to lower the level inside the gutter.
A cabinet security commission will offer help to the PAAF in the water-transfer, Boushehri noted.
The Environment Public Authority (EPA) will coordinate with relevant official agencies to refill the existing lake in the city.
The minister noted that a government team will follow up on a daily basis the measures taken to improve the environment situation in the City.
Boushehri and the Minister of Public Works will pay a field visit to inspect work there.
Today's meeting, convened by Boushehri, was attended by Minister of Public Works and directors of the PAAF, the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation, EPA, and PAHW, as well as senior officials in these agencies. (end) fnk.ht.msa
