MUSCAT, March 1 (KUNA) -- The 13th World Exchange Congress shed light on the recent global bourse developments and their plans for the future, said Boursa Kuwait's CEO Khaled Al-Khaled.
The two-day conference was an opportunity for decision makers to learn of the performance and efforts of Boursa Kuwait and Kuwait Clearing Company to develop the infrastructure of the stock exchange market, Al-Khaled told KUNA on Thursday, on the sidelines of his participation in the event that concluded in Muscat yesterday.
Meanwhile, he spoke of Boursa Kuwait's vital development plan, which includes the "emerging markets" project, to be followed by other prominent projects later on.
Speaking on the impact of the unstable oil prices on stock markets, Al-Khaled noted that it is affecting investors' decision on whether they should stay or withdraw from the market. He added that the focus now was on developing the markets' infrastructure to give the opportunity for local and foreign investors to invest in different products.
The event, attended by about 250 people from 60 countries, discussed the effect of stock markets performance on economic growth and the role of technology in developing these markets.
It also focused on expanding regional cooperation between markets and means of creating different income sources for emerging markets. (end) ma.ag
