KUWAIT, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- 1904 -- His Highness Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, the seventh ruler of Kuwait, approves establishing a British mail station, affiliated to the bureau of the British High Commissioner.
1946 -- Ali Abdulwahab Al-Muttawa, a merchant and diver, passes away at the age of 57.
1957 -- Kuwait's population stood at 206,473.
1964 -- The first Spanish ambassador to Kuwait hands in his credentials to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1966 -- Al-Subahiya town was established on a 5.5-square-kilometer plot of land, comprising 3,196 residential units for limited-income citizens.
1972 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, inaugurates the central communications building.
1979 -- The first kidney transplant in Kuwait and the Gulf was conducted.
1991 -- Iraq agrees on all UN resolutions related to its aggression on Kuwait and calls on its troops to cease fighting. The allies confirm capturing 163,000 Iraqi soldiers.
1991 -- The first radio broadcast was transmitted from Kuwait after the liberation of the homeland.
2004 -- Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa decorates His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah with the Khalifaite Medal.
2004 -- Kuwait's national swimming team wins the GCC tournament after clinching 35 gold medals out of 60, making 24 new Gulf records.
2005 -- Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah inaugurates the second gas turbine station in South Zour with a total production capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
2008 -- Acting Premier and Defense Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah inaugurates the military medical center in Jahra. (end) hb
