KUWAIT, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti embassies in Saudi Arabia and Australia, and the Consulate in western Saudi city of Jeddah, have marked Kuwait's 57th National Day, the Gulf country's 27th Liberation Day and 12th anniversary of His Highness Amir's ascendance to power.
In Riyadh, Kuwait's Ambassador to the Kingdom Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held a reception at Tuwaiq Palace, in the Saudi capital's Diplomatic Quarter (DQ), themed "march of the Kuwaiti-Saudi charity." The ceremony was attended by Governor of Riyadh region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, princes, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, and leading political and media figures as well as intellectuals, besides many Kuwaitis in the country.
Talking to KUNA, Sheikh Thamer congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people on the National Days.
He recalled with the achievements by the "generation of independence" and Kuwait's martyrs.
He added that Kuwait has been blessed with sagacious leadership, conscious people, and security and stability, proceeding with steady steps on the path of development.
Sheikh Thamer highlighted the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader." This has been the outcome of Kuwait's humanitarian work and initiatives extended around the globe. He said that Kuwait has been offering aid to Syrian people since the eruption of their crisis seven years ago, he said.
Kuwait also hosted the First, second and Third International Pledging Humanitarian Conference for Syria, and co-chaired a fourth one held in London.
In addition, the country has backed Iraq and Yemen, as well as offering aid to many world countries that were hit by conflicts or catastrophes, regardless of religious, political or ethnical considerations, he noted.
For his part, the Riyadh Governor offered his congratulations to His Highness the Amir on the National Days. He stressed Kuwait's humanitarian initiatives around the globe.
Sheikh Thamer and Prince Faisal toured an exhibition the embassy organized as part of the celebrations, with participation of several agencies from both countries.
A similar reception was held in the Kuwaiti Consulate in Jeddah, where the country's Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Wael Al-Enzi welcomed guests who "shared beloved Kuwait and its honorable people their national celebrations." He recalled Saudi Arabia's stances in support of Kuwait and its people through history.
In Australia, a reception held by the Kuwaiti Ambassador Najeeb Al-Bader, was attended by a host of senior Australian officials, party members, MPs and Senators, together with businessmen, Arab and Islamic heads of missions, representatives of international organizations in the country.
Al-Bader congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and the Kuwaiti people on the national occasion.
He reiterated the deep-tooted ties with Australia, recalling the country's contribution to liberation from the Iraqi invasion of 1990.
In addition, the envoy reviewed the trade partnership between the two nations, saying that Kuwait is a major investor in Australia, with investments totaling USD 15 billion.
Australia is a favorable destination for the Kuwaiti tourists, he said noting that 5,000 Kuwaiti visited the country in 2017. (end) mdm.nsa.msa
