Putin vows to enhance Russia's nuclear deterrence

MOSCOW, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged on Thursday to boost his country nuclear deterrence to maintain advanced global position in combat readiness.
In a televised speech, Putin said Russia will strengthen its strategic nuclear deterrence resources, and stressed that Russia would beef up its special and traditional forces and develop defense, military and scientific abilities.
Russia has reached top global positions in combat readiness, quality of weapon and military hardware, he boasted.
Putin applauded what he described as brilliant skills, decisiveness, and fearlessness of Russian military in Syria. (end) os.amm.ibi
