AMMAN, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Interior Minister Qassem Aaraji said Monday he agreed with Jordanian officials he met on development of the Traibeel border crossing, as well as formation of a joint committee to supervise border security.
Aaraji, at a news conference at Iraq's embassy in Amman over outcome of his visit to Jordan that began two days ago, said the development of Traibeel border crossing would boost trade between the two neighboring countries.
He thanked Jordan for supporting Iraq's security and stability, as well as its fight against terrorists.
Aaraji also said he discussed with the Jordanian officials security, political and economic issues.
Meanwhile, Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulqi, in a statement to reporters following his meeting with Aaraji, underlined importance of promotion of bilateral investment and trade relations.
He said Traibeel border crossing was important to cementing economic and trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq.
Traibeel was reopened last August following a three-year closure due to insecurity in Iraq. (end) ab.bs
