Three foreign fighters killed in Syria's Afrin, Deir Ezzor - YPG

AMMAN, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Three foreigners fighting with the Kurdish forces were killed in clashes erupted in Syria's Afrin and Deir Ezzor, Kurdish People's Protection Unit (YPG) announced on Sunday.
They were fighting against the Turkish forces and Free Syrian Army (FSA) as well as the so-called Islamic State, it added.
The YPG named the killed as French national Olivier Francois Jean Le Clainche, 41, Spanish national Samuel Prada Leon, 25, and Dutch national Sjoerd Heeger, 25.
It noted that Le Clainche and Leon died in clashes against the Turkish forces and FSA at the Jandairis front in Afrin on February 10.
It stated that Heeger was killed in Syria's eastern Deir Ezzor province on February 12.
They joined the PYG in summer of 2017 to fight IS militants, it pointed out. Over the last years, hundreds of foreign fighters joined the Kurdish units to combat IS fighters. (end) tk.hm
