Kuwait's support to Iraq new contribution to humanitarianism - minister

KUWAIT, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said his country added to its humanitarian record through its support to stability in Iraq.
Stability in Iraq will impact positively on the Arab region and the world at large, A-Dustor news network quoted Al-Saleh as saying Wednesday following Kuwait International Conference on Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI).
"In his speech to the conference, His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah pledged USD two billion in aid of Iraq," the minister said.
"These include USD one billion allocated to loans for key development projects that will be supervised by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and a similar sum from all Kuwaiti government institutions, including the Public Investment Authority, in the form of capital investment.
"This is the ideal contribution to Iraq's recovery in terms of economic development and investment," Al-Saleh added.
The large number of representatives of the private sector from around the globe at attendance in the conference signals the desire of global investors to tap into the promising opportunities in Iraq, he said, adding that Kuwait play as key gateway for investments and logistics into Iraq.
