Belgium lowers terror alert level

BRUSSELS, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- The Belgian government decided Monday to lower the terrorist threat level from three to two on a scale of four.
According to Belgian media reports, it's the first time since the Paris attacks over two years ago that the terror alert level has been lowered to level two.
Terrorist threat level three means that an attack is probable. Under threat level two the likelihood of an attack is average and not very likely, noted the reports.
Soldiers are only deployed under threat level three, which will continue at certain sensitive locations. As a result, most but not all the soldiers that were deployed on the streets of Brussels and other big cities will return to their barracks. (end) nk.sd
