APU condemns US freeze of funding to UNRWA

BEIRUT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- The Arab Parliamentary Unionh (APU) condemned Friday the US decision to freeze financial aid to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
The APU said the decision showed how the US wanted to undermine the Palestinian cause for the sake of the Israeli interest, which made America a direct party in suppressing the Palestinian people.
It called on Arab countries to provide funding for the Palestinians "in order to avoid the use of their economic and social conditions to force them offer concessions affecting their existence." The US announced last Tuesday freezing part of its UNRWA budgetary contribution, telling the UN agency it was sending USD 60 million out of original USD 125 million it used to send. (end) wsm.bs
