Egyptian president hosts Al-Ghanim, affirms desire to boost ties

CAIRO, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi received on Wednesday Speaker of Kuwait National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim.
President Al-Sisi welcomed the speaker, asking him to convey his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said the presidential spokesman, ambassador Bassam Radi, in a statement.
He also affirmed during the meeting that the Kuwaiti-Egyptian ties have remained solid and distinguished, reiterating Cairo's desire to boost mutual cooperation at various levels.
The spokesman said that the president praised Kuwait's stances toward Egypt at the political and economic levels, adding that he noted necessity of beefing up the parliamentary relations between the two countries.
For his part, speaker Al-Ghanim relayed greetings from His Highness the Amir to president Al-Sisi and Kuwait's keenness on boosting the ties and cooperation with Cairo.
Speaker Al-Ghanim eyed highly Egypt's role in the region as "basis of the Arab nation's security and stability," the spokesman elaborated.
Furthermore, the Egyptian president has reiterated that he views the Gulf security as connected with that of Egypt.
The meeting was attended by the Egyptian parliament speaker, Dr. Ali Abdelal, and the State of Kuwait Ambassador to Egypt, Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh. (end) ms.rk
