Japan looks forward to enhanced security coop with Pakistan - FM

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono on Thursday expressed willingness to enhance security cooperation with Pakistan, especially for countering terrorism.
Kono met with Pakistan's Chief of Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in eastern Rawalpindi city, the military said.
According to Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Japanese chief diplomat was briefed on Pakistan's War on Terror and contributions towards regional peace.
He acknowledged, and appreciated Pakistan's efforts for regional peace and stability. Kono is due to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart on bilateral issues, said Pakistan Foreign Office.
Both sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The foreign minister will also pay a courtesy visit to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. (end) sbk.msa
