Kuwait's DGCA launches new weather app on smart phones

KUWAIT, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a new weather application "KuwaitMet" competent with the latest smartphone systems, the DGCA said on Thursday.

The app aims to better services on weather in Kuwait, it added.
The app will help everybody follow weather conditions nationwide, Kuwait City, the Kuwait International Airport, Al-Wafra, Al-Abdali, Al-Salmiya, Al-Jahra, Al-Shaqeya and Al-Salmi, Deputy Director General for Air Navigation Services Affairs Khalid Mubarak Shuaibi said.
He added that the app would present up-to-date data on temperature, wind speed, humidity, and sea state.
It will also provide weather warnings for four day ahead, besides satellite images and weather maps, as well as a climate archive, he noted.
Shuaibi pointed out that they are working on introducing Arabic as a second language of the app.
In the meantime, the DGCA's Meteorology Department has upgraded its website to keep pace with IT advances. (end) km.msa
