CAIRO, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi stressed the importance of carrying on with coordination and "intensive" consultation with France on "joint issues and challenges" over the coming period.
Receiving French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Saturday, Al-Sisi reiterated the deep-rooted bilateral ties, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radhi said in a press release. The President also lauded the "close military cooperation between the two countries." Egypt's Defense Minister Sedqi Sobhi attended the meeting.
For her part, the French minister affirmed that her country gives importance to enhancing the partnership ties with Egypt on all levels, including military and security, together with bilateral coordination on the challenges of the Middle East, Radhi said.
She commended Egypt's efforts for combating terrorism.
The minister reiterated France's support to Egypt in the face of the joint challenges.
The two sides discussed means of bolstering bilateral military cooperation, and exchanged views on a host of regional issues, as well as the ongoing efforts to conclude political settlements for crises in the region, Libya in particular. (end) asm.msa
