Turkish courts send 51 people behind bars for links with parellel entity

ANKARA, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Two Turkish courts sentenced to jail Friday 51 people for their connection with the so-called parallel entity, accused by Ankara of planning the failed coup attempt that happened in July 2016.
The criminal court in the city of Eskisehir, central Turkey, sentenced 46 security personnel for seven years for belonging to "a terrorist organization," Anadolu news agency quoted a security source as saying.
He said the criminal court in city of Sivas sentenced five persons for 10 years on same charges.
Meanwhile, Turkish police arrested 109 people suspected of having links with the parellel entity.
Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced last month that more than 48,000 people were arrested for their connection with the outlawed group. (end) rs.bs
