GENEVA, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- President of the Association of the Accredited Correspondents to the UN (ACANU) in Geneva Jan Dirk Herbermann on Friday praised Kuwait's support to ACANU's activities and events.
Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN and International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim received Herbermann at the premises of the Kuwaiti mission.
During the meeting, the ACANU chief highly appreciated Kuwait's contributions on the humanitarian level in particular, recognized by the UN organizations and agencies.
Kuwait's backing to ACANU is a model example of how the relation between diplomats and the media at the UN should be like, within a framework of mutual respect.
For his part, Al-Ghunaim stressed Kuwait's respect to "free and credible media" saying the country is keen on assisting it for conveying the truth to the public opinion.
ACANU was founded in 1949 to defend the professional interests of its members and with taking all necessary steps to support their work with the UN.
The association organizes press conferences, exhibitions and various events for its members. (end) ta.msa
