Delta Air Lines orders 100 Airbus planes

WASHINGTON, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Delta Air Lines, a major American airline, announced Thursday that it has agreed with Airbus for a 100 firm order estimated at USD 12.7 billion and 100 option order for state-of-the-art Airbus 321neo (new engine option) aircraft with deliveries beginning in 2020.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a statement that "this is the right transaction at the right time for our customers, our employees and our shareholders." "This order for the state-of-the-art A321neo with Pratt's Pure Power next-generation jet engines reflects our long-term commitment to these values for Delta people and all our constituents," he affirmed.
Delta expects to take delivery of its first A321neo in the first quarter of 2020 with new aircraft arriving through 2023.
For his part, Chief Operating Officer - Customers at Airbus John Leahy said "this purchase furthers our commitment to US aviation, a commitment that has never been stronger."
