DUBAI, Dec 13 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Disabled Sport Club's players have snatched six varied medals at the 2017 Asian Youth Para Games currently hosted by Dubai, with the participation of 30 countries.
In a statement on the sidelines of the competition on Wednesday, Salah al-Mosawi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, told KUNA that Kuwaiti player Dhari Batti won two gold medals, coming first in the Shot Put and the Discus Throw competitions.
His compatriot Abdel-Mohssen Al-Otaibi obtained the silver and bronze medals in the same competitions, al-Mosawi added.
Yacoub Qassem and Ali Al-Sanea won two bronze medals in the tennis contest, in two games held for the second and third positions, al-Mosawi noted.
The championship witnessed fierce competitions from all contesters, which reflected their brilliant performance, he stressed.
He commended the resolve of the Kuwaiti disabled players to make these accomplishments, and raise Kuwait's flag high at this event featuring 800 athletes from 30 countries. Al-Mosawi affirmed that the Kuwaiti club has capabilities to help young players qualify for participating at regional and international tournaments.
He congratulated players on making this achievement, wishing that they would continue to win further medals at the next championships.
He expressed his gratitude to the technical and administrative members, who accompanied the team at this event.
Al-Mosawi referred to the club's big support for players, saying it is important and essential for meeting all needs of athletes.
This support contributes to raising fitness and skills of players so as to make progress in the coming contests in which they participate, he made clear.
The games kicked off on December 8, under the patronage of Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. It contains 10 different contests. (end) msr.hm
