KUWAIT, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait and Bahrain football teams will play a friendly next week as part of preparations for the 23rd Gulf Cup, due in Kuwait later this month, Kuwait Football Association (KFA) President said Sunday.
Sheikh Ahmad Yusuf Al-Sabah said in a statement the two teams agreed to meet in a friendly match early next week to test their preparations.
He said the organization of the Gulf Cup would take place in cooperation with the government of Kuwait.
Sheikh Ahmad said Kuwait football team players were determined to do their best on the field although they were suspended by around two years by FIFA.
The Gulf Cup will be held between December 22 and January 5, and will feature participation of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Bahrain, Oman, Iraq and Yemen.
The championship was originally scheduled in Qatar, but Doha agreed to transfer the Cup to Kuwait after FIFA lifted the ban on Kuwait football earlier this month. (end) fr.bs
