TEHRAN, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Saturday that his country would not relocate its embassy to Jerusalem, reiterating London's rejection of Washington's decision recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Johnson made the statement during a meeting with Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani today.
The US decision is a unilateral move, which complicates the matter regarding achieving peace in the Middle East, Johnson was quoted by Iran's official media as saying.
Meanwhile, Johnson stressed his country's commitment to the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the P5+1 in 2015.
He said that it is a multilateral agreement and its implementation is in favor of international peace and stability.
The British official called for further efforts in order to resolve problems hindering the full implementation of the nuclear agreement.
For his part, Shamkhani described the economic cooperation level between London and Tehran as "good."
He said facilitating banking relations could contribute to developing bilateral cooperation in all domains.
Johnson arrived in Tehran earlier in the day to discuss means of promoting cooperative relations between the two countries, and regional and international issues. (end)
