Representatives of the Iraqi and Iranian sides sign the agreement
BAGHDAD, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Iraq and Iran have hammered out a contract for exporting 30,000-60,000 barrels of oil per day from northern Kirkuk fields to Iran.
Signed by the Iraqi oil marketing company (SOMO), the contract provides that the Iraqi side will transfer 30,000-60,000 quantities through trucks to the border point between the two countries near Kermanshah Province, Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Al-Laibi said in a press statement.
Also under the deal, the Iranian side will deliver the same quantities and the same specifications through the ports of southern Iraq, the Iraqi minister added.
For his part, SOMO General-Manager Alaa Al-Yasiri said that this agreement would contribute to adding a new export port for Iraq and promoting Iraq's cooperative relations with neighbouring countries. (end)
