NEW YORK, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- The delegates of UN Security Council (UNSC) stressed on Friday their commitment to UNSC resolutions on Jerusalem and supported the two-state solution.
During an emergency session on Jerusalem held today, the delegates rejected the US Administration's move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, warning that the move would undermine the peace process.
In his speech, the French representative said that any measure is taken by any party aiming to change the nature of Jerusalem will not be accepted.
He stressed the necessity of the presence of a UN mission to sit with the two parties when taking any decision on Jerusalem.
Sweden's delegate said Donald Trump's decision on Jerusalem contradicts the international law and the UNSC resolutions, saying Trump's move fuels unrest in the region.
He affirmed that his country does not recognize the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
He said the 1967 borders must be respected and Jerusalem should be the capital of two states.
Meanwhile, the British ambassador to the United Nations regretted the decision of Washington, emphasizing that London has no plans to transfer its embassy to Jerusalem, which is part of the occupied territories.

For his part, the ambassador of Italy voiced his country's rejection to the unilateral decision of Trump on Jerusalem, stressing the importance of the two-state solution.
The Uruguayan delegate also affirmed his country's rejection to the American move, calling for continued efforts to return to negotiations in order to reach peace through the two-state solution.
The Russian envoy expressed his concern over Trump's decision, saying it complicates the crisis.
He stressed Russia's support for a fair settlement between the parties of the conflict.
Russia backs the two-state solution and that East Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine, he said.
For her part, the US ambassador to the UN Nicky Healy said that Trump's decision "did not change the status quo of Jerusalem."
She said that Israel has the right to determine the location of its capital.
The session is held at a time when hundreds of thousands of people are protesting against the move around the world.
Palestinians staged several protests against the US move in many cities in Palestine. Clashes broke out between the Palestinians and the Israeli forces, killing two people and injuring more than 700 others in the "day of rage." (pickup previous)
