Palestinians launch "day of rage" against Trump's move on Jerusalem
RAMALLAH, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- Palestinian factions have called for a "day of rage" in Palestinian territories on Friday to display utter rejection of US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Rallies and moves will continue over the coming days, few months after the Palestinians forced the Israeli occupation to remove metal detectors and CCTV cameras that were fixed at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In the meantime, Palestinian officials have called for a new popular Intifada (uprising) against Israel on Friday, the same day the first Intifada erupted three decades ago.
"Palestinians' response to Trump's move will be seen on streets through an Intifada," Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa Barghouti told KUNA.
The decision proves that the US Administration has become Israel's partner in the occupation of Palestine, violation of the international law and "committing a crime of war by annexing others' land by force," added.
"It has terminated any US role in the peace process, and undermined 25 years of negotiations," he stressed.
The Palestinian people feel that their top constants and rights, namely their sanctities, are being targeted, Hassan Yusuf, a Hamas leader, said.
"We hope that the Palestinian moves will carry on till the Israeli and the US schemes targeting the Palestinian territories, sanctities, identity and existence, fail," Yusuf told KUNA.
Member of the political committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council Abdullah Abdullah said that Trump's decision "does not take Jerusalem out of the negotiations of a final solution." "It is only confined to the US Administration, and no one else on the international scene has adoped it," he added. (end) nq.msa
