UK welcomes holding of GCC Summit in Kuwait

LONDON, Dec. 6 (KUNA) -- The UK Minister for the Middle East Alistair Burt has welcome the holding of the 38th Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Kuwait on Tuesday, and urged GCC states to take further steps towards resuming full cooperation.
"The UK and GCC are close partners on a range of issues, and we welcome the attendance by all GCC member states at the Summit hosted by Kuwait this week," Burt said in a press statement Wednesday.
He underlined that the unity amongst GCC members is important for the Gulf's stability and security.
"We urge our GCC partners to build on the Summit and take further steps towards resuming full cooperation," he added.
He expressed admiration of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for hosting the summit.
"The UK fully supports his continued mediation efforts towards a resolution of differences between GCC member states," he concluded. (end) kd.ibi
