EU, NATO agree to boost defence cooperation

BRUSSELS, Dec 5 (KUNA) - The NATO and the EU agreed Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in new areas following a meeting with NATO foreign ministers and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini.
"We are taking cooperation between NATO and the EU to a new level," said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in a press conference.
He said that joint work between the two organisations will include three new areas: military mobility, information sharing in the fight against terrorism, and promoting women's role in peace and security.
On her part, Mogherini told the joint press conference that today both Councils (NATO and EU) adopted, endorsed, this new set of proposals, 34 new actions that will deepen our cooperation.
She added that key priorities for the EU as well as for NATO are counterterrorism, military mobility, and women peace security that is a key element for building security in the world. (end) nk.ibi
