Soldier, three militants killed in Kashmir encounter - Indian police

NEW DELHI, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Indian police said on Tuesday that one security personnel and three militants were killed in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Quoting the local police sources, the Press Trust of India said that the face-off took place after the militants belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on an Army convoy at Qazigund on Jammu-Srinagar national highway while heading to Srinagar, killing a soldier and injuring another.
The security forces encircled the area to hunt down the fleeing militants which turned into an encounter and the killing of three militants involved.
The police said that two of the killed named Abu Furqan and Abu Maviya are from Pakistan while the third called Yawar Basir from Habiash of Kulgam had joined Lashker-e-Taiba after snatching weapon from a policeman earlier this year.
