Approving sports' law is an important step toward suspension lifting - Min. Al-Roudhan

KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan said Sunday that the new sports' law currently discussed by the National Assembly is an important step towards lifting the suspension off Kuwaiti sport.
Today's meeting aim to approve the new law, which represents a qualitative leap in the field of sports, as it addresses all obstacles in face of progress and development in the sports' sector, Minister Al-Roudhan said in a speech at the National Assembly session to discuss the second report of the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee on sport law.
The committee has adopted in this move specific standards that will be the basis for the solution, most important of which is to uphold Kuwait's interest and protect its sovereignty and constitution, preserve the public funds and the right of the state to control it, he said.
The committee also welcomed equal negotiation and activating the independence of local sport bodies.
Al-Roudhan expressed sincere thanks and appreciation for the support provided by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and MPs, especially the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee, for its outstanding effort that contributed to the formation and hopeful implementation of this law.
