DOHA, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Saturday said that it stands in support of the United Nations' (UN) "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", a plan of action the UN has concocted to strengthen universal peace and eradicate poverty.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of a high-level meeting seen as a prelude to the UN "Conference on Financing for Development and the Means of Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", Kuwait's Ambassador to Doha Hafeeth Al-Ajmi underlined his country's support of the UN plan.
Al-Ajmi, who heads the Kuwaiti delegation to the conference, pointed out that sustainable development goals form an integral part of Kuwait's national plans and strategies that seek to transform the country into a financial and commercial hub.
The Kuwaiti envoy also spoke of his country's unyielding belief in humanitarian values, as evident by the outpouring of aid Kuwait has sent to underdeveloped nations.
On the conference, he expressed hope that it would result in concrete steps that ensure the UN agenda ultimately comes to fruition, which can only occur through cooperation across the board, he stressed.
The two-day meeting will examine all challenges that could potentially hinder the UN plan, while ensuring that all parties remain committed to its success. (end) nnd.nam
