Sudan announces largest reserve of copper in world

KHARTOUM, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- A Sudanese government company announced on Friday that it has a mine containing the largest reserves of copper across the globe.
Director of Aryab company Nasruddin Al-Hussein said in a statement that the mine in eastern Sudan contains five million tons of copper, the largest reserve all over the world.
In addition to copper, the mine owns 140 tons of gold, 700,000 tons of zinc and 3,000 tons of silver, he pointed out.
He revealed that the reserves at the mine are estimated at USD 17 billion, indicating that there are current negotiations with four international banks and sovereign funds to finance the extraction of copper.
