US reiterates ceasefire in Ukraine due to Russian-led shelling

WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- The US reiterated its call for a cease-fire in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday where Russian forces have shelled two water-filtration plants.
"It is considered especially dangerous because some shells have fallen as close to as 50 meters from chlorine gas storage tanks at the facilities," said State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert during a briefing.
"A hit on the tanks would cause a major catastrophe, gassing people at the plant, possibly even those in nearby towns, as well as disrupting the supply of clean drinking water in the area." She urged Ukraine to show restraint and "do everything within its power" to implement the Minsk agreements. (end) ak.ibi
