Lebanese Pres. appreciates His Highness Amir peace efforts in Arab world

BEIRUT, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's President Michel Aoun expressed Thursday his appreciation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's wisdom and continuous efforts to achieve peace among Arab countries.
Aoun made his remarks in an interview with KUNA and Kuwaiti newspapers reporters in Beirut prior to his upcoming visit to Kuwait next Sunday.
He mentioned his scheduled talks with His Highness the Amir during his visit, noting that talks will focus on bilateral relations.
The Lebanese-Kuwaiti talks will also address issues of mutual interest, in addition to regional situations, especially "since we are affected by the ongoing political crises, wars, and conflicts in the region," said Aoun.
Kuwait has provided Lebanon with financial loans and aid, and contributed significantly in the country's reconstruction efforts, he said.
The Lebanese president expressed gratitude and appreciation to Kuwait's supportive role in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Aoun said that Lebanon depends on Kuwaiti and Gulf efforts to resolve the Syrian refugees' crisis in the country, noting the crisis' economic and social fallouts exceeded Lebanon's endurance.
The Lebanese president also revealed there is an interior political dispute regarding coordination with the Syrian government to solve the refugees' crisis.
He affirmed that his initiative to solve the Syrian refugees' crisis enjoy a political consensus by a number of countries and international bodies.
The president also said he would ask Kuwait to support his bid to obtain UN's recognition of Lebanon as an official global center for dialogue among religions and civilizations.
"Lebanon is a successful model for joint coexistence, which is based on accumulation of various regional cultures, religions, and doctrines," Aoun said.
He also said joint coexistence in Lebanon shall remain peaceful despite ongoing events, asserting his country will never be involved in any Arab-Arab conflict. (end) ff.ma
