Tillerson expresses condolences to Argentinian counterpart on those killed in NYC attack

WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called his Argentinian counterpart Jorge Faurie to express his condolences on the deaths of five Argentine citizens in the "brutal terrorist attack" in New York City, it was announced Wednesday.
State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement that the people of the US "stand in solidarity with the people and government of Argentina." The US top diplomat "reiterated that the US government will continue to provide its full support to the New York City Police Department, including through a joint investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation," the statement noted.
Earlier today, Tillerson said the attack "has turned out to have been an international event in terms of the victims themselves," indicating that one Belgian and five Argentinians died in the attack. (end) si.hb
