KUWAIT, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Health Cities conference and exhibition will focus on the GCC and international organizations coordination to establish regional health cities, said the Health Ministry Wednesday.
Speaking to the press during the announcement of the conference, Undersecretary at the Health Ministry Dr. Mohammad Al-Khasti said that the event, scheduled between November 6-8, would be the perfect venue for exchanging regional and international views on the establishment of health cities in the region.
He indicated that the ministry would be eager to register nine areas in Kuwait within the World Health Organization's (WHO) health cities network.
Dr. Al-Khashti affirmed that Yarmouk area had met WHO's requirement as a health city, indicating that the ministry was ready to announce this achievement during the conference.
On her part, the Kuwait Health Cities Rapporteur Dr. Amaal Al-Yahya said that participants would attend the conference and exhibition from all around the globe.
Some 38 papers will be reviewed during the course of the conference, while the exhibition will witnessed the participation of various government bodies and private sector entities, she said.
According to the WHO definition of a healthy city, it is one that is continually creating and improving those physical and social environments and expanding those community resources, which enable people to mutually support each other in performing all the functions of life and developing to their maximum potential.
