Trump, May agree on closer coordination in wake of New York terrorist attack - White House

WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump spoke by phone Wednesday with British Prime Minister Theresa May, who conveyed her condolences regarding the deadly terrorist attack Tuesday in New York City, the White House announced.
Trump and May "agreed on the importance of closer counter-terrorism coordination between the United States and the United Kingdom," the statement said.
Sayfullo Saipov, an Uzbek immigrant, used a rented truck to mow down bicyclists and others, killing eight and injuring 12, according to New York police.
Saipov left a note saying the attack was done "in the name of ISIS," and he followed online instructions from the so-called Islamic State, police said Wednesday.
Saipov was shot by police after jumping from the truck and was being questioned in a hospital, police noted. (end) rm.hb
