KUWAIT, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- As part of its mission to observe and protect the environment both locally and regionally, the Kuwait diving team -- part of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation -- have recently returned from a visit to inspect coral reefs in Abu Dhabi, UAE, said an official Tuesday.
Speaking to KUNA, head of the diving team Waleed Al-Fadhel said that the visit to Abu Dhabi was the second stop of the team's expedition in the region, revealing that the team had visited Oman previously to check on coral reefs there.
Reports on the status of the coral reefs are sent to the Australian non-profit organization Coral Watch, said the Kuwaiti official, affirming that this was part of the team's global effort to protect the environment.
In regards to the GCC program to protect the coral reefs, Al-Fadhel said that the six-month program aimed at visiting over seven locations in the region and registering more than 300 readings and observations which will then be sent to Coral Watch for evaluation. (end) zak.gta
