Turkey says Barzani's resignation heralds new era in Kurdistan region

ANKARA, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- The resignation of Iraq's top Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani heralded a new era in the Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bakr Bouzdag said on Monday.
Speaking at a news conference in Ankara, Bozdag called on Barzani to deal with his mistakes after he had said that he would not run again for the presidency.
The Turkish leader renewed a call for cancelling the referendum's results on separating from Iraq. He held Barzani accountable for the regional disputes.
On September 25, the region held the referendum, although there were Arab and international endeavors to halt this move.
The Iraqi government and the neighboring countries, mainly Turkey and Iran, opposed the step. (end) rs.hm
