Decline in Islamophobia during the third quarter of 2017 - Report

JEDDAH, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- A report issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) revealed Monday a decline in the phenomenon of Islamophobia during the third quarter of 2017 in many parts of the world, especially in the Western countries.
The report prepared by OIC' Islamophobia Observatory said that the period between July and September of this year has seen a decline in the phenomenon of Islamophobia in the world compared with the last four years.
The European countries and the United States marked a decline compared with 2016 and the first quarter of this year, the report said. Adding that violations against Muslims and Islamic religious symbols are repeated in these regions.
The election of the current US president Donald Trump as president of the United States was a "double-edged sword" that contributed in the promotion of hate speech against Muslims, but has also form a front that refuses to offend Islam.
The anti-hate front has created an awareness among the Americans on those who refuse to live with Muslims which are in fact a group of whites racist who spread discrimination, racism and hatred, and do not reflect the diversity of the American people.
The recent elections in Europe have resulted in strong competition for right-wing parties in Europe, which recently stepped up the rhetoric of intimidation of Islam or the fear of non-integration of immigrants with European people. (end) nh.nbs.ss
