RIYADH, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Foreign Ministers and Chiefs of Staff of the member states of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen on Sunday reiterated their determination to confront the Houthi militias' destabilizing acts in Yemeni.
In a final statement after their meeting in Riyadh, they reiterated commitment to countering the hostilities of Houthi militias and to support the legitimate government endeavors to restore the country's security, stability and territorial integrity.
The statement was read out at a news conference after the meeting by the Coalition Forces Spokesman Group Captain Turki Al-Maleki.
They condemned the Houthi militias killing, starving of Yemeni people, tampering with its resources.
They denounced the Houthis acts of aggression which risk undermine the security and stability of regional countries, at the forefront of which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as endanger the navigation at the internationally strategic waterway on Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
They vowed to continue their efforts to eradicate all terrorist groups in Yemen, especially Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
They stressed that the pro-legitimacy coalition's military operations in Yemen are conducted in line with the international laws and norms.
He stressed that the coalition member states' political and military intervention came in response to the legitimate Yemeni government's appeal after the military coup carried out by militias to hijack state institutions and occupy Sanaa.
They voiced satisfaction with the latest UN report on Children and Armed Conflict, issued on October 6, 2017, and several reservations about the inaccurate information it included.
They urged the UN to revise its data gathering tools and mechanisms to avoid including inaccurate information.
They, however, lauded the parts of the report which highlighted the measures taken by the coalition to ensure the safety of civilians.
They criticized the negative role played by Iran in Yemen.
They stated that Iran is backing the rebellious militias and supplying them with weaponry, ammunition, mines and even ballistic missiles in violation of the UNSC resolution No. 2216.
They held the Iranian regime's responsible for spreading unrest and chaos and tempering with the regional security.
They strongly denounced the Houthi militia's violation of the sanctity of the Islamic sacred places through targeting the holy city of Makkah with ballistic missiles.
They condemned the Houthis' recruitment of children for military operations, the sieging of civilian areas, and looting of humanitarian aid.
They pointed out that such illegal acts have caused famine and spread of disease among civilians.
They emphasized that they will continue humanitarian action to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni people.
In this regard, they lauded the great role of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.
They reiterated backing to the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad and his endeavors to mediate a peaceful solution to the crisis based on the UNSC resolution 2216, GCC initiative, and outcome of Yemeni national dialogue.
They voiced opposition to any attempt to open new channels or launch different process that could negatively impact the UN efforts.
They underlined the importance of starting efforts to rebuild the war-ravaged Yemen and acclaimed the foundation of a special fund for this purpose by some countries.
The meeting was chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and Chief of Staff General Abdulrahman Al-Banyan.
Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Khudor attended the meeting. (pickup previous)
