Diversity in ways of consumption of sustainable development element is important -- UN

BEIRUT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- The United Nations stressed Monday the importance of coordination between the different institutions of the same society to insure balance of sustainable production and consumption process.
The relation between the producer and consumer have to be improved to achieve the sustainable development plans, said a special report issued by the UN Media Center in Beirut.
The report said the diversity in ways of consumption and production helps to achieve development projects, access to basic services, providing decent job opportunities, and improving the quality of life. It assured that making people involved in such process, would help in educating them, make them more aware of the importance of sustainable development and enhances economic competitiveness, as well as decreasing poverty level, the report noted.
The United Nations pointed out that a total waste of 1.3 billion tons of foodrecorded annually due to poor transport or poor harvesting and this loss has to be controlled.
The world, which expect its population to reach 9.6 billion by 2050, must use world resources efficiently, the report said.
In this respect, Kuwaiti Audit Bureau has formed a working group of national figures with high standards to implement the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by Member States of the United Nations to change the world into a better place.(end) ayb.ha.nhq
