Min. Al-Roudhan lauds YSC's approval of amendments to sports law

KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan on Saturday commended the endorsement by National Assembly's youth and sports committee (YSC) of necessary amendments to the sports Law.
Such amendments, which were made in agreement with the FIFA, is a step to lift the suspension imposed on the Kuwaiti football, the minister said in remarks to reporters.
The minister made the remarks following attending a closing ceremony of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's shooting contest late today.
Al-Roudhan said these amendments would resolve any differences with international sports laws and charters.
The committee submitted the amendments to the National Assembly for approval, as soon as they are okayed, the International Olympic Committee will be briefed on this move, he said.
He noted that there are still some steps to be taken so as to lift the suspension.
Seeking to lift the suspension, MPs are keen to support the government in steps taken to resolve this issue, the minister said.
He extolled the role of Qatar's mediation, which contributed to resolving differences with international sports organizations, mainly FIFA.
He, meanwhile, expressed his pride for representing His Highness the Crown Prince in the shooting contest.
He said the event embodies the political leaderships' keenness on backing Kuwait's sports people.
Abdullah Al-Rashidi won the Skete shooting contest, while Abdullah Al-Faihan won the Trap event.
Khaled Al-Majed won the 50-meter rifle competition.
Female competitions saw Shaikha Al-Rashidi won the Skete and Sara Al-Hawal won the Trap. (end) fe.hm
