Turkey condemns terror attacks in Afghanistan

ANKARA, Oct 21 (KUN) -- Turkey strongly condemned on Saturday the terrorist attacks on two mosques in the Afghan capital Kabul and Ghor province which left more than 72 people dead and dozens injured.
In a statement, Turkish foreign ministry said "attacking holy sites and civil areas is a despicable act." The ministry expressed its condolences to the people of Afghanistan and their government, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
At least 72 people were killed and over 65 others wounded in two separate suicide attacks targeting mosques in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul and Ghor province on Friday night, said officials.
Afghan Ministry of Interior spokesman Najib Danish confirmed that at least 39 people were killed and 45 wounded in the Imam Zaman Mosque attack in Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul city.
All the victims were civilians and included women and children, while 33 people were killed and 20 others wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque in central Ghor province. (end) rs.nhq
