BRUSSELS, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini met in Brussels Friday with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, Kang Kyung-Wha and discussed bilateral relations, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and the Iran nuclear deal.
According to a press release by Mogherini's office, the EU High Representative reiterated that the European Union expects North Korea to fully and unconditionally, without delay, comply with its obligations under UN Security Council Resolutions and to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Mogherini and the South Korean Foreign Minister agreed that lasting peace and the denuclearisation must be achieved through peaceful means, through credible and meaningful dialogue.
Mogherini stressed that increased diplomatic and economic pressure on North Korea is aimed at opening the necessary space for diplomacy and that in order to exert this pressure, the European Union is, and will continue to reach out to third countries. (end) nk.bs
