RAMALLAH, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas heaped praise on Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim for his brave, firm and supportive stance to the Palestinian cause.
The Palestinian official news agency (WAFA) reported that President Abbas on Friday sent a cable, on his and the Palestinian people behalf, to Al-Ghanim to thank him on his courageous and firm stance in the final session of the International Inter-Parliamentary Union congress which has been held recently in Russia.
In his cable, the president expressed appreciation of Al-Ghanim statements in response to that of the head of the Israeli Knesset's delegation and his highlight the Israeli crimes against Palestinians.
"On this occasion, I am pleased to convey the gratitude of Palestinian people to the State of Kuwait, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and to thank the Kuwaiti National Assembly and government for their political and financial support to Palestinian cause and people," the president said in the cable.
Meanwhile, Palestinians of different political hues have greatly welcomed Al-Ghanim supportive stance and his statements which shed lights on the Israeli abuses against Palestinian people.
They agreed that Al-Ghanim statements in the IPU session comes in line with the Kuwaiti government and people's support and defense of the Palestinian rights in different international events. (end)
