OPCW recommends Spanish diplomat as next Director-General

BRUSSELS, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- The Eighty-Sixth Session of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) recommended the appointment of Fernando Arias, Permanent Representative of Spain to become OPCW next Director-General for a four-year term of office to begin on 25 July 2018.
OPCW concluded and made their recommendation for the 22nd Session of the Conference of the States Parties, which will take place from November 27 to 1 December in the Hague, announced their recommendation in a press release late Thursday night.
He will succeed Ahmet Uzumcu of Turkey, who has headed the OPCW since July 2010. (end) nk.mb
