Kuwaiti gives lecture on security challenges in Mideast region

BERLIN, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- Head of the Kuwait National Security Apparatus Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali Al-Sabah gave a lecture on security challenges in the Middle East region on Wednesday here.
This comes within the framework of a visit by Sheikh Thamer to the German capital, upon an invitation from the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG).
The lecture featured a galaxy of Arab top diplomats in Berlin, including Lebanese Ambassador Mustafa Adib, Saudi Ambassador Prince Khaled Bin Bandar Al-Saud, Egypt's Envoy Badr Abdel-Ati, UAE's Envoy Ali Al-Ahmad, as well as ambassadors of Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, Morocco and the Arab League.
At the end of the event, Sheikh Thamer received a certificate of honorary membership of DAFG, as Kuwait is considered the first Arab country to join the association.
Sheikh Thamer and his accompanying delegation also visited headquarters of the German interior ministry. During the visit, mutual relations and issues of common concern were discussed.
Sheikh Thamer's delegation includes Sheikh Fawaz Mishal Al-Sabah, Abdulaziz Al-Salem, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Mijbel Al-Tawwash, Mohammad Budreid and Charge D'affaires at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Berlin Hamad Al-Hazeem Due to the distinguished and deep-rooted relations with Germany, Kuwait obtained DAFG's honorary membership, which is an unprecedented move in the associations' history.
The DAFG, which is a non-profit association, was established in 2007 with headquarters in Berlin. It aims to promote cooperation between Germany and the Arab world on a basis of friendship, and mutual understanding and mutual.
The association is paying much attention to boost the growing relations in political, cultural and scientific fields.
It cooperates closely with ambassadors of the Arab countries in Germany, and all Arab and German parties and institutions.
It is a non-partisan initiative and does not take a role as political actor or take sides in political conflicts.
The association also promotes cooperation in education as well as encourages social initiatives, and mutual education and culture between Germany and Arab countries. It further enhances dialogue between the two sides. (end) anj.tb.hm
