Iraqi diplomatic missions worldwide might face danger - Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Foreign Ministry issued an appeal Wednesday calling on the International community to protect its diplomatic missions from any possible attacks by supporters of the Kurdish independence.
It strongly condemned the attack that was done by a group of outlaws targeting the Iraqi consulate in Manchester with Molotov bombs, an attack, which came after a similar incident on the Iraqi embassy in London last Monday, said the ministry's spokesman Ahmad Mahjoob in a statement.
In this regard, he called on British authorities to take all necessary procedures to arrest the attackers and strengthen security measures around both the Iraqi consulate and the embassy to avoid such terrorist operations in the future.
He added that all countries hosting Iraqi diplomatic missions and citizens must provide adequate protection and security.
Media reports said last week that the Iraqi embassy in London was attacked by Kurdish activists in protest against the seizure of Kirkuk by the Iraqi forces from the Peshmerga forces. (end) aah.nhq
