Pres. Xi says China to basically realize socialist modernization by 2035

TOKYO, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping said Wednesday that the Communist Party of China will lead the country to basically realize socialist modernization by 2035, the official Xinhua News Agency reported from Beijing.
Xi made the remarks in a report to the Communist Party's National Congress, which is China's most significant political event in five years.
It is the first stage of a two-stage development plan that the ruling party drew up for the period from 2020 to the middle of the 21st century, according to the report.
Xi called the plan the party's "strategic vision for developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era." In the first stage from 2020 to 2035, the Communist Party will build on the foundation created by the moderately prosperous society with a further 15 years of hard work to see that socialist modernization is basically realized, according to the plan.
"The period between now and 2020 will be decisive in finishing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects," Xi was quoted as telling some 2,300 delegates.
"Building on this, China will see the basic realization of socialist modernization by 2035 after 15 years of hard work," he added.
In the second stage from 2035 to the middle of the 21st century, the party will be working hard for a further 15 years and develop China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful, the development plan shows, the Chinese president noted.
