Al-Abadi's visit to Paris has nothing to do with Kurdistan referendum

BAGHDAD, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- The visit by Iraqi Prime Minister to Paris has nothing to do with the Kurdish referendum, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi's office said on Saturday.
The invitation was delivered to Al-Abadi on August 26 by the French foreign and defense ministers during a visit to Baghdad, Al-Abadi's office said in a statement, adding the visit purpose was to strengthen bilateral relations and concentrate efforts on fighting terrorism.
Al-Abadi's recent call with the French president did not mention in any way the need to recognize the rights of the Kurdish people, the office added.
Media has reported that Al-Abadi would visit Paris on October 5 for talks on the crisis of the Kurdish referendum on independence. (end) aah.mk.ss
