KUWAIT, Sept 28 (KUNA) -- Supporting the talents of the new Arab generation will bring upon prosperity to the region, said a top official at the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Thursday.
Chair of ALECSO's sixth irregular general conference Dr. Ahmad Al-Issa of Saudi Arabia said that focusing on the current generation will help to create a bright future for the region.
He said that the late ALECSO's Director Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhareb always focused on supporting the education of the younger generation of Arabs whether they are living in the region or abroad.
It is important to follow up on this legacy and keep moving forward in terms of enabling young Arabs to expressed their talents, said the Saudi official who also called for reinforcing notions of moderation and acceptance in the Arab world to avoid the spread of terrorism and extreme ideologies.
On the current event, Dr. Al-Issa stressed that it was important to choose a successor for Dr. Al-Muhareb to continue ALECSO's efforts in spreading education and culture in the Arab region.
Similarly, Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Al-Fares and his Bahraini counterpart Dr. Majed Al-Nuaimi had similar statements on the importance of choosing a successor for Dr. Al-Muhareb, noting that the current mission of the conference was to elect a worthy leader of the organization.
They both expressed their confidence in the nominees for the post, wishing them luck during the election.
Kuwait's Dr. Saud Al-Harbi had submitted his nomination for the high-level ALECSO post. (end) mrf.gta
